Factory girl was the classic case of boy meets girl – girl turns into drug addict – boy creates art. This gritty story takes us through the relationship of Edie Edie Sedgwick and Andy Worhol.  While they were never really together they formed a bond that would eventually turn Edie from a gorgeous young brunette to a bleached out blonde who created a look for a generation with heavy black eyeliner.

Andy meets Edie at a party and her life would never be the same again.  She came from money and didn’t have to worry about money – or at least she thought.  Edie became a prop for Andy in his semi erotic indie films which would bring her into the spotlight.  She continue to do the short documentary style films for no compensation and developed a drug problem hanging out with Worhol’s “Factory” crowd.  She abused drugs and sex so much her life would eventually spin out of control and she would struggle to regain any kind of clairity in her life.

I’ll let you form your own opinion of the film but I for one did enjoy it.  It was raw and shot in a documentary style that I think Worhol himself would have enjoyed. Unfortunately for Edie art imitated life – to find out more about Sedgwick visit “Girl on Fire
